5* My son couldn’t put this down. This is an inspiring book for horse lovers. Finding a horse book that is for older children, where a boy is the central character is rare and had my son gripped from start to finish. He isn’t a keen reader (dyslexic) so we were sad when it came to an end (like all great books) and hoping for a follow up!

I absolutely loved this book! My daughter has it and now we keep buying it for her horse-loving friends.

Thank you Maria, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope they all do too!

5* Lovely book for all ages. As a child I read every horse book I could get my hands on, and as an adult I really loved this and found it hard to put down – reading it in a day. I love the approach of writing from the point of view of the horse as well as the boy. It really shows how a relationship between rider and horse has to be mutual. A lovely read and I can’t wait for the next book!

5* Perfect for horse lovers of all ages. This is a wonderful story about a boy and his horse overcoming their troubled pasts. It’s beautifully written, and whilst it’s ostensibly a book for children I thoroughly enjoyed it as a 50 plus adult! It’s quite different from usual horse books as the equine hero, Fleygur, is a very special breed, an Icelandic horse.
I think it will become a much-loved bedtime story book for many children. A genuine modern-day Black Beauty.

A heartfelt, comforting and inspiring novel for children and adults alike by an amazing woman and skilful writer who not only manages to capture the heart and spirit of Icelandic horses and the bond between horse and human but does so while offering well-developed characters and captivating storytelling composed from knowledge, technique, love and a passion for writing and horses.
A delightful and must-read for both children and horse/animal lovers. Enjoyed every second of it.
